We will start with a visit to the archaeological sites closest to the city such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo Pukapukara and Tambomachay as an acclimatization in the city. Then we will go to the wonderful Sacred Valley to visit the archaeological site of Pisac, Urubamba and Ollantaytambo.

Then we headed by train to Aguas Calientes to rest and the next day to visit the secret city of the Inkas Machu Picchu.

PROGRAM SUMMARY

DAY 01: CUSCO | SACSAYHUAMAN | QENQO | PUKAPUKARA | TAMBOMACHAY | CUSCO

On your first day, we will pick you up from the airport and in the afternoon we will do the City Tour where we will visit Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pukapukara and Tambomachay.

DAY 02: CUSCO | TARAY VIEW POINT | PISAC | PISAC CRAFT MARKET | URUBAMBA | OLLANTAYTAMBO | AGUAS CALIENTES

In the morning we will start the Sacred Valley tour at 7:30 am. approximately. where we will visit the Mirador de Taray, the Archaeological Park of Pisac and its craft market, lunch in Urubamba, Ollantaytambo to finally sleep in Aguas Calientes.

DAY 03: AGUAS CALIENTES | MACHU PICCHU | AGUAS CALIENTES | OLANTAYTAMBO | CUSCO

We will ascend to Machu Picchu where we will have a memorable visit of about 2 hours and additional time to walk in this dream place.

DAY 04: CUSCO | MORAY | SALT MINES OF MARAS | CHINCHERO | CUSCO
This day we start between 8:30 am. Northwest and visit the archaeological site of Moray, Maras and its impressive salt mines and finally Chinchero Tupac Inka Yupanki palace.

DAY 05: WALKING TOUR IN CUSCO | CUSCO AIRPORT
After breakfast at the Hotel you will have the option of doing the Walking tour in the city and at the time of your flight transfer you to the Airport.

Itinerary

DAY 1: CUSCO AIRPORT / CUSCO / SACSAYHUAMAN / QENQO / PUKAPUKARA / TAMBOMACHAY / CUSCO

Welcome to Cusco!

We will start with the pick up from the Cusco airport and we will transfer you to the hotel located about 20 minutes from the airport. At the hotel we will be waiting for you to provide you with information regarding the 5-day tourist package in Cusco.

In the afternoon we will start with the City Tour, in order to acclimatize to the height of Cusco (3,400 m / 11,155 feet). We will visit the archaeological park of Sacsayhuaman, where the Inty Raymi festival or festival dedicated to the Sun is held, considered the most important deity of Tawantinsuyo (It is held every June 24 of each year).

Then we will continue with Qenqo, characterized by being a rocky outcrop with particular characteristics that surprises those who visit it. It is believed that this fulfilled the function of housing the mummy of the Inka Pachakuteq, who commanded the construction of Machu Picchu.

Later we will visit, Pukapukara “The Red Fortress, named for the curious reddish tone of its stone walls at sunset. A few minutes from Pukapukara is the last point of visit Tambomachay considered as a sacred temple where the Inka performed great rituals in the water (Mama Yaku), at the end of the visit of Tambomachay we will return to Cusco and drop you off at the hotel.

DAY 2: CUSCO / TARAY VIEW POINT / PISAC / URUBAMBA / OLLANTAYTAMBO / AGUAS CALIENTES

This day we start early with the pick up from the Hotel at 7:30 a.m. Then we will go to the Sacred Valley where we will make a brief stop at the Mirador de Taray, a place from which we will appreciate a fascinating Sacred Valley of the Incas flanked by the imposing Andes mountain range.

Then we will arrive at the Archaeological Park of Pisac where we will appreciate the varied masonry of its enclosures, walls, Wak’as, deposits, etc. In addition to its agricultural platforms adapted to the topography of the place, it is really impressive!

After the visit to Pisac we will descend to the town to visit the artisan market of the same name where we will take the opportunity to buy textile products, ceramics and silver, this knowledge and skill was inherited from the Inka ancestors.

Around noon we will be arriving in Urubamba, where we will enjoy an exquisite lunch with typical and varied dishes accompanied by artisan drinks.

We will continue this adventure until we reach the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo, which was strategically built as a checkpoint for the surrounding valleys and later served as a military fortress during the Spanish invasion.

At the end of the visit we will go to the train station in Ollantaytambo to board our train to Aguas Calientes where upon arrival we will be waiting to take you to the hotel and you can rest.

DAY 3: AGUAS CALIENTES / MACHU PICCHU / AGUAS CALIENTES / OLLANTAYTAMBO / CUSCO

After breakfast at the hotel, we will take one of the first buses to go up to the expected Llaqta de Machu Picchu.

Therefore, we will have the great opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful sunrises in the world where we will witness such vast architectural mastery and great spiritual significance as it is perfectly aligned to the sunrise and sunset and the moon, to the mountains. (Apus) considered protectors and givers of life.

Together with our guide we will make a tour of approximately 02 hours throughout the Inka city of Machu Picchu.

At the end of the visit to Machu Picchu, we will return to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and then board our return train to Ollantaytambo where private transport will be waiting for us to transfer us back to the hotel in the city of Cusco.

DAY 4: CUSCO / MORAY / MARAS / CHINCHERO / CUSCO

In the morning we will pick you up from the hotel in Cusco and we will go to the first point of visit located in the Sacred Valley, Moray is a place that stands out for its imposing circular concentric structures which constituted an important agricultural labor in the time of our Inka ancestors. Then we will visit Maras, famous for its natural salt wells that have been used since ancient times until today, obtaining different types of salt (table salt, first class or bulk salt, and industrial salt).

Also, the last place to visit Chinchero or also called “The town of the Rainbow” where the impressive construction of Inka terraces and its Colonial Church are still preserved. Finally we will have a brief demonstration of the elaboration of the textile garments that they make in a textile interpretation center in Chinchero. To later return to the city of Cusco and of course leave them in their respective hotel.

Recommendations

  • The first thing to do is to buy your Machu Picchu ticket and train tickets in advance. Especially if the visit takes place in high season (May – September).
    Do not forget to carry in your luggage your identity document, either; passport, university student card or ID card.
  • To board the train you must be at the station 30 minutes before departure time, and present your ticket and ID. Otherwise, you will not be able to board the train.
  • It is important to carry cash in soles (Peruvian currency) and dollars, in small bills, because in most places in Aguas Calientes they do not accept cards. However, you will find plenty of ATMs in the city of Cusco, Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes.
  • The most frequented time to visit Machu Picchu is between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Therefore, it is recommended to go up to the Inca City early in the morning or in the afternoon so that you can enjoy your tour at your leisure.
  • If you are American or belong to the European Community, you will not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days. If you come from countries that are part of the Andean Community (CAN), you will be able to enter just by presenting your identity document.

Travel Guide

  • The rules to respect inside Machu Picchu are:
  • The entrance to the Inca city is from 06:00 to 16:00 hrs.
  • The entrance and consumption of alcoholic beverages is totally prohibited.
  • Hydrating drinks must be carried in bottles (but not disposable).
  • Food consumption inside the archaeological park is not authorized.
  • Pets are not allowed inside the park.
  • It is forbidden to throw garbage inside the park. Outside the archaeological site there are garbage containers.
  • Smoking is prohibited, much less lighting bonfires.
  • Regarding luggage, only small bags and backpacks are accepted. However, if you have a lot of luggage, you can leave it before entering the archaeological complex in the storage rooms, the use of which implies an extra cost of 3 to 5 soles.
  • It is not allowed to climb the Inca walls, much less paint or scratch them.
  • It is necessary to be responsible for your own, if you are accompanied by children, take care of them so that they do not make mischief that can cause irreversible damage.
  • Inside the Machu Picchu Sanctuary you will not find restrooms. It is recommended to visit them before entering.
  • The use of canes is allowed only for the elderly or people with disabilities, the canes must have rubber tips.
  • Respect the signs, the Sanctuary has some forbidden accesses that you must respect and transit only through the authorized areas, which are properly established and signposted.
