Ausangate, majestic in the Vilcanota mountain range south of Cusco, stands out for its snow-capped peaks and turquoise blue lakes. At 6,372 meters above sea level, it is the fifth highest peak in Peru and venerated since pre-Inca times as a tutelary apu. Can you imagine walking along its sacred route?

TRAVEL ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco - Tinqui- Upis
- Our tour begins with pickup at your hotel at 06:00 a.m. We will travel in a private minivan for 2 and a half hours. On the route we will be able to observe the Mapacho River, which connects with the Urubamba River, beautiful valleys and colorful towns such as Urcos, Ocongate and Tinki, until we reach the beginning of our walk called Upispama. There we will begin the walk to our first camp with cabins, located near the Upis thermal baths.
- After lunch, you have the option of taking a further hike to Ausangate Lagoon. This walk lasts approximately 2 hours (round trip). Also, if you wish, you can visit the hot springs. At night, you can appreciate the constellations in front of the majestic snowy Ausangate.

Day 2: Upis - Puca Cocha
- Tomorrow we will wake him up at 6:00 a.m. with the traditional coca tea or coffee served in your cabin. You will then enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by our chef.
- We will begin a walk towards the Arapa pass (4968 meters above sea level). During the journey, we will have the opportunity to observe the daily life of the locals, who are mainly dedicated to herding alpacas and llamas. To our left, the majestic presence of the snow-capped Ausangate will prevail, about which our guide will provide us with detailed information. If fortune is with us, we will be able to spot condors, chinchillas and vicuñas.
- Then, we will descend to our camp in Puca Cocha, located at 4100 meters above sea level. Imposing mountains and hanging glaciers will surround us, and just above the lakes we will find our shelters and dining room, which offer an impressive view. The dining room, built of stone and with a thatched roof to minimize the environmental impact, allows you to observe the avalanches. The tents will be set up inside the shelters, ensuring their warmth at night.

Day 3: Puca Cocha-Kayrawiri
- This day is considered the most challenging of the 4-day Ausangate Trek. After breakfast, we will prepare to ascend to the Puca Cocha pass (5,051 meters above sea level), surrounded by imposing mountains with spectacular views of the snow-capped Ausangate.
- From the pass, we can contemplate the imposing red mass of Ausangate. You will appreciate the untouched beauty and vibrant colors of the Ananta Valley. Along the way, you are likely to encounter vizcachas and vicuñas.
- After a well-deserved rest, we will begin the descent and then ascend to the second pass, called Warmi Saya (4,500 meters above sea level), from where you can see, in the distance, a portion of the impressive Rainbow Mountain or mountain of 7 colors, but still! We won’t get to it! From this point, we will descend and border a small lagoon and then continue our walk until we arrive at our camp, which has a shelter where we will enjoy lunch and spend the last night of our mountain adventure.

Day 4: Kayrawiri - Rainbow Mountain - Red Valley - Cusco
- Today is the day we will get up very early, at 04:45 a.m., to be the first to arrive at the Rainbow mountain. Our camp is located 45 minutes from Seven Color Mountain. We will bring coffee and warm clothes due to the intense cold. After taking the best photographs, we will descend to the red valley or red mountain, which will take about 30 minutes downhill. Then, we will go to the bus station where we will pick up our private transportation to Ttio, a small town where we will have lunch. Finally, we will return to Cusco and arrive at your hotel around 4 pm.
