The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is the best known trekking route in Peru and worldwide. That is why, if you are a nature lover and you love walking through ancestral routes, this is one of them. In addition, you can sleep in the town of Aguas Calientes. Rest assured that you will not regret this fantastic hike!



Classic Inca Trail to Machu Picchu Wayllabamba

Firstly, I pick up from the hotel at 06:00 am to arrive at the Sacred Valley.

The starting point will be from km 82.

Then, we will visit the complexes of Willca Racay and Patallapta in the course of the tour.

Immediately, on the way we will find magnificent landscapes of the Urubamba mountain range, for example, the impressive snow-capped peak “La Verónica” (5750 masl).

As a result, we will arrive at Wayllabamba (3000 masl) where we will have dinner and it will be the campsite.

Likewise, we start with a delicious and nutritious breakfast

Then, we begin to ascend to the place of “Tres Piedras” and then we rest for a brief moment.

Upon reaching Llulluchapampa (3750 masl) we will stop to enjoy our box lunch and replenish our energy.

Consequently, we will arrive at the Abra de Warmihuañusca or “The Passage of the Dead Woman” (4200 masl).

Immediately, we will see from the highest point the impressive landscapes of the Andes and the low jungle.

As a result, we will begin the descent to our camp in Pacaymayo (3600 masl).

Runkuraqay Archaeological Site Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

First of all, after breakfast we prepare for the third day of walking.

We will reach the top of the opening of Runkuraqay (3950 msnm).

Then, we will descend towards Sayacmarca (3500 msnm) in a tour of approximately 01 and a half hour.

We will observe a landscape full of orchids, ferns, native flowers and exotic species.

Immediately, upon reaching Chaquiccocha (3550 msnm) we will take our lunch.

It may be possible to visualize the snowy peaks of the Salkantay, La Veronica and the Pumasillu.

Finally, our camp will be located in Phuyupatamarca.

WINNING Inca Trail to Machu Picchu

After breakfast we will start the hike to Machu Picchu.

Then, in the descent we will arrive at Intipata, which was the largest agricultural sector found in the area.

From Wiñayhuayna we will walk for about 1 hour to arrive at Inti Punku, from here you can see Machu Picchu for the first time.

Immediately, we will arrive at the classic viewpoint of the famous cover images of Machu Picchu, where we will spend time viewing the spectacular landscapes.

Continuing, we will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes.

As a result, we will have dinner and spend the night in the village.

First of all, after breakfast at the hotel we begin the most important day.

Next, we will take the bus that will take us to Machu Picchu.

We will certainly try to be one of the first to enter the citadel to enjoy the beautiful sunrise over Machu Picchu citadel.

Our guide will give you a 02-hour tour, showing you the most important places in the magical city.

Then, we will proceed with the ascent to the Waynapicchu mountain, it will take a couple of hours to visit it.

From the top we will be able to admire the magnificence of Machu Picchu and the sacred river.

Consequently, we return to Aguas Calientes for lunch.

Next, we will take the train to Ollantaytambo and then transport us to Cusco.

We end up leaving you at your hotel.


The Waynapicchu mountain is optional for people who do not wish to do it. However, if you choose not to do it, you will be able to visit all the corners of the Historical Sanctuary on your own.
