- Early in the morning, our incredible tour on the luxurious train Hiram Bingham Machu Picchu will begin, with a warm greeting from our staff, who will pick you up at your hotel to take you to our transportation. Once ready, we will head to the Poroy train station, where we will board our exclusive train.
- During the train trip, we will enjoy a delicious three-course lunch accompanied by exquisite wines that combine perfectly with the dishes. If you want to try other Peruvian drinks, such as the famous Pisco Sour, they will be available. The atmosphere in the carriage will be an experience that will transport you to the 1920s, with extremely beautiful decorations that many tourists love. - Upon arriving at the town of Machu Picchu (Aguas Calientes) after a trip of approximately three hours, we will go to the bus station, from where we will depart again until we reach the control gate. The rules to be respected within Machu Picchu are:
- The entrance to the Inca city is from 06:00 to 16:00 hrs.
- The entry and consumption of alcoholic beverages is totally prohibited.
- Hydrating drinks must be transported in bottles (but not disposable).
- The consumption of food inside the archaeological park is not authorized.
- The entry of pets is prohibited.
- The dumping of garbage inside the enclosure is prohibited. Outside the archaeological site there are garbage containers.
- Smoking is prohibited, much less lighting campfires.
- Regarding luggage, only small bags and backpacks are accepted. However, if you have a lot of luggage you can leave it before entering the Archaeological Site in the warehouses, the use of the same implies an extra cost of 3 to 5 soles.
- It is not allowed to climb the Inca walls, much less paint or scratch them.
- It is necessary to be responsible for your own, if you are accompanied by children, take care of them so that they do not get into mischief that could cause irreversible damage.
- Inside the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu you will not find hygienic services. It is recommended to visit them before entering.
- The use of canes is allowed only for the elderly or people with disabilities, the canes must have a rubber tip.
- Respect the signage, the Sanctuary has some prohibited accesses that you must respect and only travel through the authorized areas, which are duly established and marked.
Recommendations
- The first thing you need to do is buy your Ticket to Machu Picchu and your train tickets in advance. Especially if the visit is made in high season (May – September).
- Do not forget to carry your identity document in your luggage, either; passport, university student card or DNI.
- To board the train you must be at the station 30 minutes before departure time, and present your ticket and identification document. Otherwise, you will not be able to board the train.
- It is important to have cash in soles (Peruvian currency) and dollars, in small denominations, because most places in Aguas Calientes do not accept cards. However, you will find quite a few ATMs in the city of Cusco, Ollantaytambo and Aguas Calientes.
- The visiting hours to Machu Picchu most frequented by tourists is between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Therefore, it is recommended to go up to the Inca City in the early morning or in the afternoon so that you can enjoy your tour with peace of mind.
- If you are North American or belong to the European Community, you will not need a visa for stays of less than 90 days. If you come from countries that make up the Andean Community (CAN), you can enter just by presenting your identity document
