We will pass through mountains considered sacred since ancient times, the subtropical jungle below Machu Picchu and, of course, on the first day we will visit the beautiful Humantay Lagoon with its brilliant turquoise color that will surprise you! This route from Salkantay to Machu Picchu has fewer restrictions than the Inca Trail so it is an ideal choice to enter Machu Picchu through the back door.

The first day we will visit the beautiful Humantay lagoon, cataloged as one of the most beautiful lakes in Peru. We will also have the first views of the great snow-capped Salkantay.

This day we will walk at the feet of the Apu guardian of the Salkantay jungle where we will have the opportunity to make a small thank you offering.

This day we will have a gentle walk through the thickness of the jungle with spectacular views of the Sacred River.

Visit Machu Picchu with your expert guide that will make you live a unique experience in the hidden city of the Incas. In the afternoon we return to Cusco.



We will start with the pick up from your hotel in Cusco around 5:00 a.m, and then head towards Mollepata on a 3-hour trip, where we will have a delicious breakfast and then continue for another hour in our transport until we reach Soraypampa, the point where we will go. to our campsite where we will spend the night today. In the afternoon after lunch we will make the ascent to the jewel Laguna Humantay in a walk up the mountain of about two hours or less.

Once in the place, take the opportunity to spend a great time exploring the place, taking many souvenir photos and after the guide’s indication, we return to our campsite in Soraypampa to have a delicious dinner, rest and regain strength for the next day.

Tonight you will rest in the Sky Lodge with a spectacular view of the great snow-capped Salkantay, if the night is starry it will be a unique and unforgettable experience!

This second day we will get up early to have a fortifying breakfast and then start the trek to the great snowy Salkantay and it will be the highest point of our adventure, which we will reach at 4,620 m / 15,255 feet.

The distance that we are going to cover today will be 7 km and we must complete it in about 4 hours. On the way we will enjoy the impressive Salkantay, Humantay, and Pumasillo mountains that surround the trail.

Salkantay is the second highest mountain in the Cusco region and one of the most important Inca deities known as “Apu Salkantay”.

Walking to the top will be the most difficult part of the entire hike. The next 3 hours we will descend the winding road to reach Huayracmachay, where our cooks will be waiting for us to have an exquisite lunch in the middle of the mountains. In the afternoon we will enter the area called cloud forest.

We will head for about 3 hours (9 km) until we reach Challway (2,900 m – 9,514 feet) our second base camp. At night we will have a delicious dinner and then we will rest to continue the next day.

After a pleasant night and great sharing with the group and guide! At 5:30 pm. We will have breakfast and then we will start the walk towards “La Playa” along a tropical path and following the course of the great Salkantay River, we will have a few small stops along the way to taste local fruits and vegetables (passion fruit, banana, coffee, avocado , mango, orange and papaya).

The distance that we are going to travel will be 16 km and we will do it in about 7 hours to get to Lucmabamba, a place where we will find basic services and is characterized for being a town of coffee growers and take advantage of taking one home. We will also enjoy our well deserved lunch.

After the delicious lunch we will get ready to board the transport that will take us to Hidroelectrica from there, we will walk for 3 more hours following the train rails to finally reach Aguas Calientes and be able to rest because the next day we have a visit to the wonder of the Machu Picchu World.

The long-awaited day arrived and I was convinced that it was worth the effort in these 4 days. Early in the morning after breakfast at the Hotel together with our guide we will go to the bus station, to make the ascent to the Llaqta de Machu Picchu where we will have a guided tour of 2 hours, exploring and knowing each
sector of the circuit in Machu Picchu.

At the end of the guided tour in Machu Picchu you can make the ascent to the Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain if you have your entrance tickets. The visit time will be about 3 hours where you will enjoy the amazing views of Machu Picchu from other angles.

After marveling at Machu Picchu and having taken the legendary photographs, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes to have lunch and in the afternoon board our train to return to Ollantaytambo and Finally our transport will bring you back to the city of Cusco.

Packing List

What To Bring

  • We recommend that you take only what is necessary to enjoy your tour and leave the rest of your things at the hotel in Cusco.
  • The original passport.
  • A small backpack of 50 liters that allows you to introduce all the things you will take with you
  • A sleeping bag preferably at least 5 to 10 degrees below zero, this can be synthetic or feather, if you do not have one you can rent it from our office.
  • Appropriate clothing for walking, waterproof and comfortable shoes for long walks, short and long pants, sports shirts.
  • Warm clothes to be used in the camp (We recommend cotton clothes that are very comfortable to sleep in, a hat and gloves for the cold. Socks for walking, sandals to be used when you arrive at the camp, you should also take bags with you plastic so you can separate things in the backpack (clean, wet, dirty clothes and others).
  • A canteen with water for the first day of the walk. From the first lunch on day 01 you will be provided with cold filtered boiled water for your canteens.
  • The use of a water bottle is mandatory along the Camino, the authorities will not allow the use and/or entry of plastic bottles.
  • Personal hygiene items: a small towel, soap, toothpaste and toothbrush, toilet paper, hand sanitizing gel. These last two articles are very important.
  • Personal medications, within this list also includes muscle relaxants, pain tablets and blessed for scratches, blisters on the feet that can be generated after several hours of walking.
  • Items to protect yourself from the sun and mosquitoes, a sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat or caps for the sun and a mosquito repellent.

All our travelers need a sleeping bag for camping. Our sleeping bags are effective and durable in protecting from temperatures as low as -18ºC (0ºF). Also, poles (with rubber tips) are optional but highly recommended. If you don’t have them, don’t worry, you can rent them with us in Cusco.

Montaña Huayna Picchu:

Huayna Picchu es la montaña que se encuentra junto a Machu Picchu. Es una caminata de 45 minutos hasta la cima. Tenga en cuenta que volver a bajar es bastante empinado.
